700 Konzerte 2004 bis 2020.
Mit einer Geburtstagsparty von Gerhard Vohwinkel (Spree City Stompers) und Openair-Konzerten im Englischen Garten (Berlin) fing es an. Meine Fotos zeige ich mit der Website www.injazz.de. Das Interesse am Jazz kommt jedoch nicht von ungefähr.
Modernen Jazz hörte ich live das erste Mal in der ersten Etage des Berliner Jazzclubs Eierschale, der die Heimat der Spree City Stompers und Tobby Fichelscher war. Dort spielten donnerstags Musiker der Rias Big Band (Karl Berger, Ack und Jerry van Rooyen, Herb Geller, Benny Bailey u.v.a.). In den Sechzigern war ich bei Miles Davis im Sportpalast, bei John Coltrane im Audimax der FU und bei Eric Dolphy im heutigen Rickenbackers.
In meinen Frankfurter Jahren waren es Pat Metheny in der Jahrhunderthalle, Keith Jarrett und Miles Davis in der Alten Oper, Jan Garbarek im Singkasten und das Frankfurter JazzFestival sowie Jazz im Palmengarten.
In Berlin war ich immer dichter dran: A-Trane, Aufsturz, B-flat, Café Niesen, Jazzcafé & Jazzpark am Kaisersteg Schöneweide (Jazzkeller69eV), Kladow-Forum, Kladower Philhamonie, Musik-Instrumenten-Museum, Kunstfabrik Schlot und Sowieso. Und ein paarmal bei Soundchecks des Berliner Jazzfestes.
From 2004 to 2020 I photographed jazz in Berlin. It started with a birthday party for Gerhard Vohwinkel (Spree City Stompers) and open-air concerts in the English Garden (Berlin). I show my photos from 700 concerts on the website
www.injazz.de. But my interest in jazz is no coincidence.
I first heard modern jazz live on the first floor of the Berlin jazz club Eierschale, which was home to the Spree City Stompers and Tobby Fichelscher. Musicians from the Rias Big Band (Karl Berger, Ack and Jerry van Rooyen, Herb Geller, Benny Bailey and many others) played there on Thursdays. In the sixties I went to see Miles Davis in the Sportpalast, John Coltrane in the Audimax of the FU and Eric Dolphy in what is now Rickenbackers.
During my years in Frankfurt, it was Pat Metheny in the Jahrhunderthalle, Keith Jarrett and Miles Davis in the Alte Oper, Jan Garbarek in the Singkasten and the Frankfurt Jazz Festival as well as Jazz in the Palmengarten.
